Chronic dental stains on the teeth in your smile can be embarrassing and can leave you feeling socially awkward. While a dental bleaching treatment at Open Door Family Dentistry can certainly remove stains from your teeth, you will still need to make certain lifestyle changes to prevent future stains from developing.

If you also have physical imperfections on one or more teeth, like a dental fracture, Dr. Don Schiess might recommend dental veneers. Dental veneers are essentially a series of porcelain shells that are custom shaped to fit onto the face of each tooth in your smile.

The dental-grade porcelain material the veneers are made from can be shaded to a bright lustrous white. At the same time, the veneers will not be as receptive to stains as natural tooth enamel. This makes it much easier to remove minor surface stains to maintain your new, white smile between dental cleanings.

Dr. Don Schiess will start the treatment by examining the teeth in your smile. This will help him assess the health and thickness of the available tooth enamel. If you have one or more teeth that are compromised in some way, he might recommend replacing the entire enamel layer with a porcelain dental crown.

After the assessment, he will remove a small amount of enamel from the face of each tooth. Then, he will create an impression of each tooth in your smile. This will be sent to a dental lab where the dental veneers will be created.

When they’re ready, we will call you back in to install the veneers. This involves your dentist cementing the veneers into place with a special dental adhesive.

If you live in the Medford, Oregon, area and you are interested in improving your smile with dental veneers, you should call 541-773-4073 to schedule a consultation at Open Door Family Dentistry.
