What you heard about acid reflux? You may know that acid reflux can cause heartburn, however, have you heard that acid reflux can also damage your pearly whites? Luckily, there are a number of things you might be able to do to protect your teeth if you have acid reflux.
You see, if you have acid reflux, acids and undigested foods can come into your esophagus. Sadly, these acids can get into your mouth. This can be a serious problem because your teeth aren’t protected from acids like your stomach is. In other words, even though your enamel is one of the hardest substances in your body, it may still break down. Once your enamel breaks down, it will be gone forever and you could be more vulnerable to cavities and tooth decay.
Luckily, there are a few things you can do to protect your enamel. You can start by limiting the amount of soda you drink. You should also be careful with acidic foods, such as orange juice, and sugary foods. If you eat these foods, please remember to drink water afterward. Naturally, you should also speak to your doctor about your acid reflux.
